SEATTLE, WA...Charles Douglas, a traditional gilder in private practice in the Pacific
Northwest, specializes in both custom gilding and restoration of gold leaf gilded frames and furniture. Located
along the northern tip of Lake Union in the big blue Gasworks Gallery building, his focus is contemporary and period-influenced
hand finished gilded picture and mirror frames, furniture, and glass gilded mirrors, based on the beautiful gilding art form of verre églomisé.
A long-time member of the Society of Gilders and former editor of the society's international gilding
journal, Charles is a committed teacher of gold leaf gilding. Workshops are held throughout the year for those
interested in exploring the mystery and beauty of gold leaf gilding including the ancient method of traditional
water gilding.
