*Materials: Students will just need to bring 1 Booklet 12k Gold Leaf (Loose Leaf) to class. Substitutions are fine such as a thin genuine silver of other low kt leaf but must be Loose Leaf. A Promo Code and Website Link for Gilded Planet will be provided upon Registration. Leaf can be purchased at Sepp Leaf on day of class).

All Other Materials are Included in Tuition.

Fall brings the return of the popular Glass Gilding workshop to the Isabel O’Neil Studio on the Upper East Side of New York City for a special 1-Day class. Students will learn to gild the the back of glass in 12k white gold leaf, the basis for the art of Verre Églomisé. One of the main goals of our study is achieving a proper balance between brilliancy and bonding between the gold leaf and the glass.

Explore the beautiful artistry of gilded mirrors and other gilded glass art objects and learn to gild with precious gold leaf on an 8x10 sheet of 1/4” glass. This is a hands-on Workshop with a focus on gilding along with instruction on etching into the leaf with guidance on backing-up witn a of enamel paint.

Gilder Charles Douglas, who began his gilding career glass gilding with the Visual Merchandising Dept. at Saks Fifth Avenue has taught in such cities as New York, Christchurch NZ, Owen Sound/Ontario, Louisville, and San Francisco while also developing an Online format on Zoom where students are also guided step by step through this ancient artform.

NOTE: Optional gilding kits are available through Gilded Planet upon request. Gilding Kits are Not Required for the class since the use of studio tools is provided.
