The juice of the garlic bulb is an ancient mordant used to apply gold leaf to Paper. In this 90 Minute Online Tutorial students will learn to grind and squeeze the juice from a Garlic Bulb and apply it to paper. We will also apply the Contemporary Mordants Miniatum, and Miniatum Ink and Gild in 22kt Gold Leaf for comparison including breathing through a bamboo straw onto the garlic to adhere the gold! The use of Shell Gold will also be demonstrated, a medium popular during the 14th and 15th Century.

A Must for students interested in exploring the ancient and Sacred connections to Flat Gilding for Illumination and the Contemporary achievements in the art of Gold Leaf Gilding.

Note: Question and Answer period is included. The Class is both Live Online and Recorded and remains viewable for six months.
