Are you interested in learning about Gilding but wondering where to begin?

Gilding 101 is a New Class designed as a suggested ‘First Gilding Class’ for those who are new to Gilding and would like to know more about how to choose among the many different methods and techniques available and where to begin. You will learn about the different tools used in gilding and what they’re used for. You will be introduced to the different methods and techniques of this 4,000 year-old art form to help you begin thinking about which direction you might like to explore further (something like thinking about choosing your Major but without the pressure!).

Get the help you need to choose the right class or series of classes.

Whether your interest lies in the historical method of Traditional Water Gilding for Frames and Furniture, Gilding Panels in the tradition of 13th-18thc Florence and Siena, Gilded Raised Gesso on Paper, Gilding Glass, or other special techniques such as Sgraffito, Pastiglia, or Punchwork and Incision.

Instructor Charles Douglas will guide you patiently through discussions and gilding demonstrations during this Special 90 minute Masterclass so that you come away with a more clear idea on how to choose the right course of Study and what tools and materials you will need to begin practicing.

Gilding demonstrations are conducted in this class to aid in the understanding of the different methods and techniques of Gold Leaf Gilding to gilding.
